TRUSTED BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY & DOULA SERVICES IN RHODE ISLAND
Serving birthing families in Rhode Island and Massachusetts
I believe that no matter how you give birth, every woman should see themselves through an artist's point of view...at the height of their strength, determination, and courage. I think all women should have their birth photographed because of the dimension of the moment. As your baby grows and glows with life, documenting his or her birth is as exciting as watching their gentle changes. Entrusting a professional photographer to photograph your baby's birth means you can enjoy these sweet and tender moments forever. Truly, if there ever was a time to entrust yourself to a professional birth photographer, then now is the time to do so.
WHETHER YOU ARE ALREADY A PARENT OR ARE ABOUT TO BECOME ONE, YOUR BIRTH WILL BE
Transformative
HEY HEY, IT'S YOUR GIRL, DOMINIQUE MARIE.
STORYTELLER, boy mom, HYPE WOMAN, birth keeper & DOULA
As a photographer, I have been privileged to witness and capture many special moments in people's lives. From weddings to graduations, each event holds its own significance and holds a special place in my heart. However, there is one sacred moment that stands out above all others – the birth of a child. I am honored that you are considering Viva Por Ti Photography to capture this momentous occasion. The day your child is welcomed into the world is a moment that you will cherish for the rest of your life. It is a moment filled with love, joy, and wonder – a moment that cannot be replicated or relived.
But what sets me apart from other photographers is my love for the unpredictability, messy, crazy ride that comes along with having a baby. From the first contraction to the moment you hold your little one in your arms, the journey of childbirth is full of unexpected twists and turns. And as a photographer, I am there to capture all of it – the tears, the laughter, the pain, and the euphoria. I firmly believe that every woman should have their birth photographed. It is a dimension of the moment that changes your life in massive ways. Not only does it serve as a beautiful memento of the day your child entered the world, but it also allows you to see yourself through an artist's point of view. In the midst of the chaos and intensity of labor, you are a source of strength, determination, and courage. And that should be celebrated and captured for eternity.
I have had the privilege of witnessing all kinds of births – natural, cesarean, home births, hospital births – and I believe that no matter how you bring your child into the world, every woman should have the opportunity to see herself in the high of her power and femininity. As a photographer, it is my mission to capture these moments in a way that reflects the beauty and strength of a woman in labor. Being invited into your birth space is not something I take lightly. It is an intimate moment, filled with vulnerability, and I am grateful for the trust that my clients place in me. With my camera in hand, I am there to document the raw and authentic emotions of your journey into motherhood.
So, to all the soon-to-be mothers out there – whether you are expecting your first, second, or eighth child – I invite you to let Viva Por Ti Photography be a part of your birth story. Together, we can create a powerful and compelling visual narrative that captures the beauty, love, and strength of this momentous occasion.
Why hire a birth photographer?
Many don't think twice about hiring a photographer for their wedding day, so why should the birth of your child be any different? Have you ever heard the story of how you were brought into this world? Wouldn't it be wonderful if that story had images to go with it? Imagine, as adults, how great it would be to see ourselves as we are being born, to see our mom as she becomes a parent, to see what we looked like as a fresh newborn. Hiring a photographer isn't just for the parents, it's a gift to your child and a wonderful way to share your experience with family and friends. By hiring a professional photographer your partner will be free to experience the moment as it is happening, and not through the lens of a camera, and they will actually be in the photos! Hiring a photographer that is very familiar with birth means that you will have your story documented, edited, and presented with the professional quality you deserve. To truly remember and be able to share the joy and triumph for such a significant day, there is no better way to capture that memory, and share that legacy, than having a birth photographer do it for it.
The Primal Power of Touch in Birth
From the moment we are born, touch is a fundamental language of love and connection. It's a primal sense that deeply influences our well-being, and its power is particularly profound during childbirth.
Touch triggers the release of oxytocin, often called the "love hormone," which has remarkable effects on both the body and mind. It helps to lower stress levels, reduce blood pressure, and even increase pain tolerance, creating a more serene and positive birthing experience. Furthermore, oxytocin plays a vital role in labor by promoting uterine contractions and stimulating lactation after birth.
Beyond the physiological benefits, touch offers a profound emotional connection. It allows the birthing person to feel held, seen, and supported throughout the journey. A loving touch can mirror the intimacy that created this new life, providing comfort and strength during this transformative experience.
In the liminal space of labor, touch can be a grounding force, reminding the birthing person of their innate power and resilience. It's a testament to the enduring connection between the human touch and the miracle of birth.

"I COULDN'T HAVE CHOSEN A BETTER PHOTOGRAPHER FOR MY BIRTH. DOMINIQUE WAS A RAY OF LIGHT I DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED."
I couldn't have chosen a better photographer for my birth. Dominique was a ray of light I didn't know I needed. My partner and I hired her as our birth photographer, but she was much more than that. She understood what I wanted and needed throughout my labor. She remained quiet at times, but in moments when I needed words of encouragement, she knew just what to say. The birth photos are something my partner and I will treasure for the rest of our lives. I can't wait to share them with my daughter when she's older. Much of my birth is a blur, but because of these images, I can relive the day I became a mother over and over again. Dominique, I can't thank you enough. You're a true blessing, and I'll always be grateful for the support you've given me throughout this entire process.

What it means to be your doula...
It's an incredible honor to be a doula. Walking alongside families through the transformative journey of birth is a truly humbling experience. As a full-spectrum doula, I provide comprehensive support – informational, emotional, and physical – throughout the entire journey of parenthood, beginning with the very first consultation.
My prenatal visits are focused on building deep connections and trust with the families I serve. It's during this time that I gain a profound understanding of their unique needs, fears, and desires for their birth experience.
When labor begins, I become a steadfast, reassuring presence, offering continuous support and guidance as they navigate the intensity of bringing their baby into the world. My established relationship with the family allows me to cultivate a calm and supportive birthing environment. I provide comfort measures like positive affirmations, breathing techniques, massage, and suggest different labor positions to ease their journey.
Witnessing families advocate for themselves, their birth choices, and their babies is incredibly empowering. It's a privilege to support them every step of the way.
FAQ
What does it mean to be on-call?
Day or night, false alarms, and even on holidays, being on-call means I am available for you 24/7 from 37 weeks until you have your baby in your arms! When I am “on-call” for your birth it means I am not on vacation out of state, away from my phone for extended periods, or attending important family events that would keep me from being by your side when you need me. It means my cameras are always ready to go, batteries are always charged, phone volume turned up, and available to drop what I’m doing and come document your story. I know IT’S A LOT. This is a huge part of why birth photography is considered an investment, as a birth photographer, I have to say no to a LOT to have a big YES for you (trust me, I love it).
When should I book you?
I can only take a limited number of births a month since it requires me to have a clear schedule for a month while on-call, So I recommend contacting me as soon as you think you are interested to check my availability. Once you've decided that you would like to hire me, you'll pay the non-refundable retainer and sign a contract that will hold your tentative due date. The rest of the fees are due by your 37th week of pregnancy. Booking early also means that you can make payments and are more likely to fit Birth Photography into your budget.
How long are you at each birth?
The amount of time I'm there depends on how long your labor is and/or when you notify me to arrive. Even with a short labor, I will stay until I have plenty of pictures to complete the story of your child being born. If you have an extremely long labor, I may take a short break, or step out to eat but I try to stay as long as I can. Remember, some births last 30 hours or more! I stay up to an hour after the baby is born to get all the first shots. Once the high of birth wears off, you and your baby start getting tired, it's time for me to go!
Will you share my images on social media?
I would be honored to document your birth story through photography and help promote a positive view of childbirth in our society. However, I want to assure you that I will never share any photos without your explicit consent. You will have complete control over which images you feel comfortable sharing and which ones you prefer to keep private, both before and after the birth. This is an opportunity for you to have a beautiful and meaningful record of your child's arrival, and I will respect your wishes every step of the way.
What if you miss the birth?
Giving birth can be unpredictable, which is why communication is key to ensure that I arrive on time. I have an excellent record of making it to even the fastest births within two hours of being notified of active labor. However, sometimes a birth can still be missed if the labor progresses too quickly. In this case, I will still come to your place of birth to document your story, whether it's a precipitous or fast birth. If I miss the birth, I may offer an additional complimentary session, such as a Fresh 48 or Family Session, if I don't believe you received enough photos. In the unlikely event of illness, an act of God, or a serious family emergency, I have a network of other birth photographers who can document your birth for me.
How many births do you take each month?
I currently feel comfortable taking between 2-3 births each month, so reach out as soon as possible if you are interested in booking because spots do fill up quickly!
When should I book a maternity session?
I recommend reaching out during your second trimester to ensure availability. Your maternity session is best booked between 30-34 weeks.
Do you offer payment plans?
I understand that birth photography is a significant investment, and I want to ensure that it is accessible to you. To book your package, I require a non-refundable retainer of $500. The remaining amount can be split into monthly payments, up to 37 weeks of gestation.
Do you document all kinds of birth stories?
All of my images come with a print release. I cannot guarantee the quality or satisfaction of the final products should you opt to print outside of my online print store.
Do you document all of birth stories?

Hold up...heyyy!
I have a passion for serving my clients well. But my desire to serve goes beyond just wanting to do a good job - it stems from a personal experience that has shaped my perspective on birth.
When I gave birth for the first time, I found myself in a sterile hospital room surrounded by strangers and medical equipment. I felt vulnerable and alone, longing for someone who knew birth and truly cared for me and my family to be by my side. That experience planted a seed within me, a desire to be that person for others. And now, as a birthing woman, doula and photographer, I have the opportunity to hold space for my clients and support them during one of the most important moments of their lives. To me, they are not just clients - they are family, and I want nothing but the best for them.
Your birth and your experience matter deeply to me. That's why I pour my heart and soul into every birth space. I want to be the best person for the job, to create a safe and comfortable atmosphere and capture the raw and beautiful moments of your birth story.
But my passion for serving you well goes beyond just showing up and taking photographs. I have a deep understanding of the significance of birth and the emotions that come with it. That's why I approach every birth and session with intention and care, making sure to document your unique story in a way that truly reflects your journey.
I am not just in this for the photography, though I do love it dearly. I am in this to make a difference in your birth experience. So let me serve you, not just out of a desire to be served well, but because it is my absolute joy and privilege to do so. Let me hold space for you and support you, because I know firsthand the impact that can have on your birth experience. Let's create something meaningful and beautiful together.
