THE PATH OF SELF-LOVE: AFTERCARE & TIPS

Hey babe, have you checked in with yourself lately? As a boudoir photographer and an advocate for self-care, I often discuss the importance of aftercare during your photo sessions. However, with the world becoming crazier and our schedules getting busier, it's crucial to emphasize the significance of self-care and self-love. Let's have a conversation about it.

Aftercare is the intentional practice of nurturing and nourishing your body and mind following physical or emotional challenges. It involves embracing self-love and self-acceptance in a world that bombards us with unrealistic beauty standards.

It's time to celebrate your uniqueness and embrace your individuality. Rather than focusing on perceived flaws, let's concentrate on our strengths and the amazing things our bodies can achieve. Let's promote positive body talk and combat negative thoughts with compliments and affirmations.

Gratitude is a powerful tool for cultivating self-love. Take a moment every day to express gratitude for your body and the incredible experiences it enables you to have. Treat your body with care and show it appreciation.

Intentionally nourishing your body is also important. Remember that food is not just about appearance, but about providing essential nutrients and energy to support our body's functions. Also, it's okay to enjoy occasional treats that bring comfort and joy.

Instead of seeing exercise only as a means to change our bodies, let's embrace physical activity as a way to connect with and appreciate our bodies. Engage in activities that bring joy and make you feel good.

Surrounding ourselves with positivity is essential, whether it's through the media and social media accounts we follow or the people we choose to have in our lives. Setting boundaries with toxic individuals and surrounding ourselves with those who uplift us is crucial for our well-being.

Self-care rituals are another way to connect with our bodies and minds. Engage in practices that help you relax, unwind, and foster self-love. Remember, it's not selfish to prioritize your own well-being, and by doing so, you set an example for others, including children, to do the same.

And yes, it's okay to treat yourself sometimes. Buy that dress, those shoes, or that piece of jewelry that brings a smile to your face. Reconnect sexually with yourself or with your partner, because embracing our sexuality is natural.

But if you still don't know where to start, here are some suggestions. Take a warm bubble bath with scented candles, your favorite book, and soothing music. Treat yourself to a cozy robe, a delicious meal, and a good night's sleep. Remember, you deserve these moments of relaxation and pampering.

Say this out loud with me, "I am deserving of love and happiness. I thank my body for all it has carried me through in life. I am worthy and strong. I am smart and capable. I am a resilient human who can positively impact the world."

So go ahead, give yourself that much-needed break, indulge in activities that bring joy to your heart, and remember that you are absolutely deserving of all the self-love and self-care in the world. Take care of yourself, because you are worth it, inside and out.
